- Paul McCobb: this American designer was born in Massachusetts in 1917. McCobb formally studied art in Boston before serving in the military during WWII. In 1948, he began designing and consulting for Martin Feinman's Modernage Furniture in New York City. From there, he went on to design some of the most influencial pieces of the 20th Century and was referred to as "America's Decorator". He created a line of furniture for Custom Craft, O'Hearn Furniture, and of course, Calvin Furniture Grand Rapids.
